Bradford College are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dedicated individual to work in the department of Advanced Technologies as part of the plumbing team. You will lecture, train and assess candidates in our well resourced plumbing workshops working with apprentices, full time and adult learners. The successful candidate will be qualified in plumbing and gas to level 3, and benefit from being part of a large construction team and will be highly motivated to drive the department forward and develop the plumbing delivery of the area.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To carry out assessor/trainer duties on employer’s premises (work based) and/or in College (in a classroom setting) in compliance with industry requirements and awarding body standards. Training and assessment may be part of an apprenticeship framework. To develop new business and maintain the case load numbers of candidates as agreed with line manager.
  • To cross market Bradford College products/provision to employers/employees in relation to work place learning and full cost recovery.
  • To maintain the plumbing and gas workshops including maintenance of equipment and procurement of resources.
  • To teach the level 3 gas installation units within the apprenticeship standards.
  • Participate in Course Committees and make decisions in relation to the efficiency and effectiveness of the designated training programmes.
  • Induct and support learners in achieving their qualifications in line with awarding body assessment practices within agreed timescales ensuring timely completion.
  • Undertake accurate assessment, provide constructive and comprehensive feedback and correct any grammatical/spelling errors.
  • Participation in standardisation meetings.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain assessment/training records as designated by the line manager.
  • Ensure recommendations of internal verifiers are implemented promptly.
  • Conduct internal verification.
  • Assist in the development of learning materials
  • Aim to achieve outstanding achievement rates
  • Comply with all College quality systems and awarding body procedures necessary to ensure accurate, complete and robust data.
  • Maintain and submit, to the line manager, a weekly visit planner.
  • To undertake additional duties that may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
  • To complete risk assessments necessary for complying to health and safety requirements.
  • To maintain tools and equipment.
  • To teach on courses specified by the Programme Manager/Curriculum Team Leader.
  • To undertake course tutorship’s specified by the Programme Manager/Curriculum Team Leader.
  • To participate actively in the development of curriculum and cross College marketing activities.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
  • Provide individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • To be responsible to the Programme Area Leader for student discipline, counselling and guidance during all assigned classes.
  • Supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
  • To implement and promote College regulations, policies and procedures.
  • To participate in Course Committee activities.
  • To participate actively in the maintenance and promotion of close links with employers and training agencies.
  • To participate in College Open Days; career events and promotional events both on and off College premises.
  • To provide appropriate information to parents/employers through College reporting systems and open evenings.
  • To assist the Programme Area Leader with costings and control of materials and equipment when specified.
  • To participate in the development of workshops, laboratories and facilities, where appropriate.
