Leeds College of Art provides outstanding opportunities for undergraduate students as they prepare for careers in the creative industries. As part of our development as a higher education institution a vacancy has arisen for a 0.5 part time Fashion Instructor. Based in our busy Blenheim Walk fashion studios, the work involves a range of responsibilities including, instructing undergraduate fashion students in the safe, appropriate and professional use of garment construction processes, techniques and equipment according to personal skillset and as required by the curriculum of our long standing fashion degree course.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the technical support team applying knowledge and skills in setting up equipment and preparing materials in fashion workshops. They will work flexibly, providing assistance to support learning, teaching, assessment and staff research activities. They will also produce some garments and samples according to final year student designs as directed by the Programme Leader.

Applicants should be aware that this role involves some flexibility in working hours and could include evening sessions when required.

The successful applicant should have a degree in a fashion discipline or equivalent industrial experience have a sound knowledge and understanding in at least 1 of the following areas: Pattern cutting, Sewing techniques or Tailoring. Relevant experience of assisting/instructing students is desirable.
