Junior Laboratory Technician

Fixed Term for 2 years, 37.5 hours per week

You will be joining a committed team at an exhilarating time of expansion and change that will enable you to begin your laboratory based career in a supportive and informative environment.

As a junior laboratory technician, you will be supported by a senior member of the team until fully trained and competent in all aspects of laboratory work.  The role involves not only delivery of specimens and experiments, but also includes a comprehensive understanding of risk assessments, COSHH and everyday health and safety. Ranging from FE to postgraduate modules you will ensure all students receive the support they need to thoroughly interact with their practical sessions and gain an extremely positive experience.  

You will gain an understanding of the adaptability and time management skills that are essential to successfully deliver quality practical provision, often within diverse and challenging situations.  A positive and professional outlook are key elements of this role, as is the ability to plan ahead and recognize that all tasks, even the most inconsequential ones, are necessary for a smooth running department.
