Hours can be up to 32hrs per week
We are currently recruiting to add suitably experienced and skilled Learner Support Workers to our variable hour's staff pool, for the September 2017 start at all LSEC Campuses.
Post holders will be required to provide person-centred learning support to students with a range of needs including in our specialist provision, severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities. This will require staff who can offer a range of skills and experience of academic, emotional and personal care support where necessary. LSWs may work with individuals or small groups, as directed by the teaching staff and encourage students to engage with activities or work independently, where appropriate.
Ideal candidates will have a good standard of general education with or working towards Level 2 in literacy and numeracy. They may have experience of working in a multi-cultural educational or care settings. A clear understanding of safeguarding and discrimination issues and the difficulties faced by those with learning difficulties are essential for this post.
You will be a "team player" with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate your commitment to be productive and foster outstanding working relationships with students, colleagues and other College stakeholders.
As the College supports a number of children and vulnerable adults, all staff are exempt from Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Accordingly, most staff will be subject to either a 'Standard' or 'Enhanced' DBS (formerly CRB) check.
