Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in art, design and the crafts for 170 years and has developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students. This is an exciting and dynamic time in the College’s strategic development. The Privy Council recently granted the College Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) and we are now working towards becoming the first specialist arts university in the North.
We have two main sites in Leeds city centre: our higher-education campus at Blenheim Walk and the original College of Art building on Vernon Street, which houses our further-education courses. We have around 1400 undergraduate students and 600 further education students and are one of only a few specialist art institutions in the country.
The Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Leeds College of Art is a highly successful course, which for many years has prepared students with the creative skills to enable progression to first degrees and subsequent rewarding careers in the creative industries. The course recruits and selects students regionally, nationally and internationally resulting in annual enrolments in excess of 250, currently around 6% are international.
We are looking for an accomplished academic leader, with relevant teaching and curriculum management experience, who can build upon and enhance even further the reputation of this ‘flagship’ diagnostic course.
The successful candidate will have at least a Degree in a related subject, together with a teaching qualification, relevant experience of teaching on Foundation courses, with a depth of knowledge and passion for the pedagogic model for which the Foundation Diploma is renowned.
