Head Herdsperson

We are seeking an experienced Herdsperson with a solid focus on herd health. The role involves regular milking, and includes responsibility for foot trimming, bedding, health/calving and vet visits. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes pride in high standards and is keen to be a key part of the success of the farm. You will also be an excellent stockperson with a proven track record within large herd management.

The herd is comprised of approximately 250 milking Holstein-Friesian cows, and milking takes place through a 16:32 rapid-exit De Laval parlour. The herd is currently undergoing a transition from all year round calving to Autumn block calving.

The ideal candidate will also be expected to be a flexible team player, with a willingness to assist on the other enterprises as needed, including the breeding ewe flock, dairy youngstock, beef cattle, deer herd, and arable enterprises.
