Based in beautiful Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast, Yorkshire Coast College is a small friendly college, part of the Grimsby Institute Group which is a large, innovative, and financially sound organisation. We are officially “good” and aim to be an “outstanding” educational provider in the next two years.

We are looking for a committed Full time Programme Leader in Computing, Games and Digital to join Yorkshire Coast College at an exciting moment in its development. The College is currently preparing for its move to a new campus and will be undertaking a rebranding exercise as part of the move, which will see us become Scarborough TEC.

As a Computing and Games tutor you will have experience and knowledge of the media aspects of Computing; HCI, Web Design and Graphic Design. You will have a wider breadth of Computing knowledge and up to date industry experience. Graphic design or media industry skills and experience using the Adobe Creative suite including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects would be desirable skills you should have. Experience in using the Unreal Engine and other industry standard Game Engines and knowledge of C++ or associated programming language would be essential for any successful candidate.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating coherent learning programmes through effective team work and take responsibility for ensuring high quality information, advice and guidance; recruitment, retention, achievement and progression of individual learners within a framework of continual quality improvement.

You will have a proven track records of providing an excellent experience to learners through exemplary teaching and learning to supportstandards of assessment.  You are also responsible for leading the course team to drive a high quality learner experience through all stages of the learning journey; and take responsibility for collating reviewing and disseminating, all aspects of learner progress.

To be successful as a Programme Leader you must be approachable, self-motivated and possess high levels of empathy. You must be an excellent negotiator and able to use your initiative to solve problems, often involving different stakeholders. 

You must be comfortable working with a range of IT packages so that you can access and utilise the technology available. You'll be required to support learners in achieving a level 2 qualification in Maths and English so you must be able to demonstrate this level of competence yourself.

It is critical that you're able to manage your time and diary effectively, and can work independently and flexibly, responding positively to change.

Experience of teaching learners from the age of 16 to level 5, so a proven track record of varied level delivery is a bonus.
