City of Bristol College is a large, vibrant general FE college, with a recent Ofsted rating of Good.   It operates from four sites across Bristol. We are a major employer with over 800 staff providing teaching and learning to over 20,000 students.  Our values of inclusivity, respect, ambition and honesty permeate all we do and, as a high-performing college, we aim to meet the skills needs of the local community.

We are now recruiting a Director of Governance & Clerk to the Corporation at an exciting time in the College’s development.  This is key strategic role in promoting excellent governance which underpins the college’s mission to transform lives and develop the workforce of the future. This post has the support of a Corporate Services Officer.

The post-holder will provide high level support to the Chair and will work closely with the Principal & Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team, ensuring that the Corporation Board (Governing Body) is compliant with its duties and obligations and receives sound, well researched advice and guidance.

The Director of Governance & Clerk to the Corporation is a senior postholder and will be appointed by and accountable to the Board, through the Chair. Our Board is composed of a diverse group of highly skilled voluntary members, with a broad range of experience from both the private and public sectors, who are motivated by a shared mission to enable the college’s learners to achieve their potential, by delivering high-quality education, training and support.

We are seeking candidates who will bring experience of working with Boards and who have a sound knowledge of governance and policy frameworks. However, this does not necessarily have to be FE specific.  Any candidate appointed from a non-FE sector will have the opportunity to undertake a programme of training to develop their knowledge and understanding of FE governance.

If you believe you have the skills, experience and enthusiasm necessary for this key role, we would love to hear from you.  To apply, please send a covering letter and CV to Recruitment@cityofbristol.ac.uk.
