Head of Department - Business

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head of Department for Business Subjects to lead our team at Bedford College.  This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills and knowledge, continuing to drive the success of the department.

In this position, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Business Department, which offers a wide range of full and part time FE and HE courses, including subject areas such as Accounting, Management and Human Resources. You will be expected to develop, implement and oversee a learning and teaching strategy in-line with the college group’s strategic plan, that is student-centred and focused on achieving excellence.

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • Recent experience of successful team leadership within a Further or Higher Education setting, particularly professional Business courses

  • Relevant degree (or equivalent level professional qualification)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to lead and manage staff, and resources effectively

  • Excellent understanding of teaching, learning and assessment strategies

  • In-depth knowledge of curriculum development and implementation
