Plumpton College is an international centre of excellence in wine training, teaching and research, delivering wine business and production programmes from WSET level 2 through to Masters level. Facilities include a commercial vineyard and purpose-built wine centre with laboratories, wine tasting room and both a research and a commercial winery. We are now seeking a Programme Manager for the Masters (MSc) in Viticulture & Oenology. This role combines operational management, teaching and ensuring the delivery of the best possible experience to students through consistently high teaching standards and services. Providing students with well-designed and challenging programmes, the Programme Managers will incorporate highly effective teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring that students gain excellent vocational and academic skills.

We are seeking individuals with a wine or science related post-graduate degree who can demonstrate the experience and ability to lead the development of teaching, learning and assessment across our Viticulture & Oenology programmes. You will be a professional, hardworking and confident team player with the ability to lead the development of teaching, learning and assessment across programmes and a strong desire to see students succeed in their field of study.

Essential criteria for the post

Hold a post-graduate degree in a related subject.

Hold a relevant teaching qualification for level of programme/course, or be willing to gain a relevant formal qualification.

An ability to lead the development of teaching, learning and assessment across the MSc programme and a strong desire to lead a high performing team and work collaboratively across the college.

Wine industry experience and/or evidence of specialist subject knowledge in grapes and/or wine.

Demonstrate a strong desire to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.

Have a clear understanding of the needs of students and of how these may be met, plus a strong desire to see them succeed

Excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills.

Willing and able to develop curriculum, teaching and learning materials in subject specialisms as part of continuous development.

Comprehensive and well-developed IT skills.

Skills and experience in problem-solving and a flexible and adaptable approach.

Adaptable and flexible approach to change.

Desirable criteria

Experience of teaching and learning.

Have a supervisory/team leader qualification and or supervisory experience.
