WHAT WE DO
The Supported Engagement Programmes at Somerville House offers a small and supportive setting for young people aged 16-24 who have been unable to engage with education previously.
Students on these courses may not have previously achieved the grades they need in order to progress, and are at risk of becoming NEET.
Students in this department often have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
The department aims to support all students to re-engage with education using a system of positive rewards, bespoke timetables and personalised goals and targets.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
We are looking to appoint a friendly, efficient and professional receptionist.
You will be the first face the students see when arriving to college and it's important that they feel safe and welcome.
You will be responsible for checking in visitors to the site and will respond to queries over the phone.
You will ensure all fire and Health and Safety records are kept securely and that the reception desk looks tidy and professional.
You will be required to complete some administration tasks including sending letters, supporting course profiling, monitoring data and completing orders for resources.
YOUR PROFILE
You should be confident using a computer.
You will feel confident approaching students and asking them to follow college rules while on site.
You will have a strong grasp of Microsoft and Google packages and be able to support the admin team to maintain college records and systems.
You will have some understanding of working with students with additional needs and challenging behaviour.
You will have strong oral and written communication skills and enjoy working with young people in a educational environment.
You will also feel confident supporting students on internal front of house work placements.
