We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated apprentice who is keen to develop their existing Horticultural skills and knowledge to take them to the next level. In this role, you will be part of the Grounds and Gardens team who are responsible for the upkeep and development of Plumpton College’s grounds, working in a beautiful setting, nestled at the foot of the South Downs.

Specific work tasks will include the maintenance of planted areas and turfed areas, as well as working on bespoke projects to consistently improve the quality and appearance of the grounds, contributing to the overall student experience of our learners. You will be part of an experienced, dedicated and forward-thinking team helping to pursue both sustainable and progressive working methods.

You will have the chance to develop your leadership skills by working with and supervising students of the College who assist the Grounds and Gardens team at different times of the week.

On occasion you will be asked to work at One Garden Brighton, Stanmer Park, Plumpton College’s restored walled garden and Horticultural Centre of Excellence alongside the Grounds and Gardens team based there.

The rates of pay for this role will be based on the national minimum wage in year 1 currently by age: U18 £4.62, 18-20 £6.56, 21-22 £8.36, 23+ £8.91 rising to the national living wage in year 2 (currently £8.91).
