JOB OVERVIEW

The Interim Foundation Assessments Officer is responsible for all Bellerbys non-business assessment production and all Brighton student entry administration for our internally assessed programmes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and oversee the entire production process of all assessments. Progress chase & liaise with staff in all Centres to ensure timely delivery of draft assessments for review; co-ordinate effective internal and external checking and amendments of prepared assessments; liaise with subject leads to ensure that papers are amended as necessary & approved.
  • Maintain comprehensive archive and control bank of live assessment papers.
  • Liaise with faculties to ensure timely release of assessments to students online.
  • Manage the assessment entry process in the Brighton Centre including all resit entries; help to resolve any problems encountered by students or staff.
  • Closely monitor and track first and re-attempts/ resits and ensuring all coursework is stored securely.
  • Co-ordinate charges for the above where relevant and report to finance team to ensure students are accurately charged.
  • Co-ordinate information for students’ special examination needs and concessions; confirm any access arrangements with faculties.
  • Collate all assessment results (including resits) and manage the systems used to record them.
  • Liaise with AES Head of Subject to ensure all results are correctly collated.
  • Build supportive relationships with academic and senior staff at Bellerbys Centres, external examiners and our validating partner, Lancaster University.
  • Providing support and data which may reasonably be regarded as part of the MAB, PAB and review processes.
  • Ensuring knowledge of policies/procedures/regulations is kept up to date.
  • Acquiring and providing ad-hoc information as required.
  • Undertaking any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined.

EXPERIENCE

  • A first degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent IT, communication and organisational skills. 
  • Experience of Word mail merge, Excel spreadsheets and databases.
  • Work with a high degree of accuracy, a keen eye for detail and the ability to perform in a busy environment.
  • Previous exams office experience is desirable though not essential.
  • Experience with School’s database management systems is desirable but not essential.
