Joanne Manship, Head of Digital, Creative and Performing Arts says: “We are really excited to release this role as it will be key for the continued success of our design courses and teaching our students the most up to date and relevant digital skills they need to progress in today’s design industry. We are seeking to appoint a tutor who is skilled and passionate about Design. You will join the creative team to teach digital design and production for a range of graphic, games design and photography courses while providing pastoral support for our level 2 students. You will be able to use and teach the technical skills involved in the full adobe suite and relevant creative software including where possible 3D software used in the Games Industry. This is a highly rewarding role which will see you apply a variety of remote and face to face teaching methods. We welcome applications from industry specialists and newly qualified tutors”.

Our UAL level 1,2 and 3 courses ensure students are both academically and practically prepared for work within technically and creatively driven industries. Our Creative study programs offer students pathways in Graphic Design, Fashion & Textiles, Photography, Art & Design and Games Design. Our students consistently achieve their target grades and are in the top 10% of National benchmark results. Our Creative provision is closely involved with regional employers who shape and support our curriculum and staff. Students regularly take part in employer led projects and competitions to improve their professional skills.

The Creative department sits in a purpose built £9 million creative and digital skills building. This new facility houses;

  • Creative teaching spaces for Fashion Design, graphics, games art, digital & 3D design, pottery, art, photography and textiles.
  • Digital Design studios.
  • A new media suite, complete with animation and recording studios; radio and TV studio.
  • Learning classrooms and open plan learning spaces for over 500 students
  • Digital learning areas and practical computer and programming labs

With a relevant degree and a teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this, you will have a broad range of skills relating to Creative digital production and also be able to teach manual and digital drawing skills. An understanding and experience of the commercial design industry demands is required. You will have good organisational skills and be able to advise and support students through their career development and planning. Ongoing staff training and support is available as part of our professional development for curriculum staff. An interest and passion for continuing professional development in industry and education is essential. We are currently working with Tom Sherrington on a Teach to Distinction programme of training for Teaching and Learning.
