JOB OVERVIEW

This is a fantastic opportunity for a supportive, highly-organised manager to join the University of Surrey International Study Centre as the Head of STEM. Due to the joining of two teams, this is an exciting new challenge to lead a diverse team of talented Tutors that hold a wealth of experience from different areas of the education sector. Managing a number of programmes with multiple pathways, your organisational skills will be challenged as you work in a fast paced environment, with the goal of ensuring the best student outcomes and experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this exciting job role, you will lead and motivate a team of STEM Tutors. You’ll work closely with the team to provide effective performance management, and drive the team forward in terms of quality and pedagogy. You’ll need to be highly organised to manage the teams workload effectively whist efficiently managing your own time. You will have responsibility for the overall Quality and Assurance for the programmes within your area, as well as driving enhancements and development of the curriculum. Your networking skills will be required as you lead on maintain and developing  relationships with key academics from the University of Surrey ensuring a full understanding of relevant University curriculum content, assessment modes, education strategy and quality policies and procedures.

EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s or higher degree in an appropriate discipline
  • Leadership and management experience in a teaching and learning environment (FE background preferred with some HE)
  • Specialism within a relevant subject (An engineering background is preferred)
  • Teaching experience in an FE or HE environment.
  • A Teaching Qualification is desirable.
