26 hours per week – term time only + weeks (40 weeks per year)
Working within our Careers team you will help to provide a high-quality impartial information, advice, and guidance service to both prospective and current students and adults seeking advice through the National Careers Service.
You will also manage the online UCAS application process to ensure that timely applications are sent, supporting students and staff through the process.
The role is 26 hours per week, and we are very flexible with how those hours are structured during the working week.
About the role
Within the position you will support individuals to enable them to explore career opportunities and to research suitable education, training, and employment opportunities.
Other aspects of the role will include-
- Guiding individuals to enable them to make decisions regarding the appropriate opportunities available to them.
- Referring students to internal and external providers where specialist support is needed.
- Where necessary acting in a canvassing/advocacy role with providers of learning/training opportunities.
- Working with the wider careers team and Student Services to devise activities and arrange visits which support career exploration, career planning and the tutorial programme.
- Delivering group work with students on a variety of topics, e.g., career planning, CV writing, Higher Education progression, confidence building, employability skills etc.
- Working with the Business and Student Support & Engagement teams to ensure that Wiltshire college achieves and maintains the Matrix standard for Information, Advice and Guidance.
- Specifically working with applicants and students studying Level 3 and higher education programmes and offer support at key points of application, induction, and transition.
- Delivering group work sessions and presentations on researching and applying for higher education programmes through UCAS and manage UCAS Apply to ensure that references are added, and applications sent in a timely manner.
- Working with local partners including HEI’s, employer, training providers and charities to enhance the careers education programme.
- Provide support, training, and guidance to tutorial staff in the delivery of the tutorial system.
About You
To apply for the role, you will hold a qualification at level 4 or above. You will have experience of supporting people to meet their agreed objectives and milestones. You will have knowledge of the UK education and qualification system, together with an understanding of issues facing adults returning to learning.
A strong organiser you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as developed problem solving and listening skills.
