Hours: 14.5 hours per week (Monday- Friday)

South Gloucestershire & Stroud College has an excellent reputation for delivering Further Education and work-based programmes in a range of subjects.  The Games Design team are passionate about their subject area and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated professional to join them. The team have a flexible approach to teaching this subject, to align with industry standards, so an awareness of the game development pipeline is key to support the curriculum and learners further. Knowledge of game development in modern game engines such Unreal Engine 4 and / or 3d design and animation, as well as game design theory would be desirable for this role, to provide context to practice.   To be suitable for this role you must be educated to Degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience and hold a recognised teaching qualification (or be willing to undertake this upon commencement of the role).    

SGS College have an exciting opportunity for a Games Design Lecturer at our Stroud Campus.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

To undertake all forms of pedagogic work which may include classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements. To ensure the associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken.   To provide the appropriate student welfare and academic/non-academic counselling responsibilities.   To undertake an annual teaching workload of contact hours for category ‘A’ duties of 828 maximum to 761 minimum (pro rata for part-time) as detailed in the College workload agreement.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

Degree level or equivalent or substantial relevant subject area experience. You will be required to obtain a Stage 3 full professional qualification (PGCE in post-16 education or equivalent) within 2-4 years of commencing lecturing duties within the College. Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills. Experience of contemporary game design and development process
