Laboratory Technician - HLS

This is an exciting opportunity to support the team at Coventry University Group in Coventry as a Health and Life Sciences Technician. You will contribute to effective support for learning and teaching within CU Coventry by delivering vocational and practical training to a range of students and facilitating lab practicals, liaising with staff in this dynamic and developing area as necessary, and in addition provide specific expertise and support for new equipment and specialist software within the area. You will be working together with CUC’s Senior Technician and the academic team. You will be supporting the development of this area, as part of the team, to work collaboratively with industry partners, driving internationalisation and embedding digital literacy throughout learning programmes to provide our students with the very best experience.

This is a hands-on role that requires a resilient and innovative individual with outstanding organisation, communication and technical skills as well as an excellent professional knowledge of the demands of a Higher Education Health and Life Sciences department and the workplace students will progress to on graduation. You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The role will also involve manual handling and require excellent problem-analysis and solving skills.

The post holder is expected to have a degree in a Health Science related subject (e.g. Biology or Chemistry) or equivalent, solid working knowledge of how Health and Life Sciences labs and workshops function and be able to be flexible within their role.

The post holder will be expected to work 36.5 hours per week which may include evenings and potentially, Saturdays.
