We have a great opportunity at Cookham Wood Secure Training Centre to join the education team as our Engagement and Resettlement Guidance Worker on a permanent, full time (37 hours per week) basis.
HMYOI Cookham Wood, Rochester, is a custodial establishment for Young People, aged between the ages of 15 and 18. There are currently around 170 young people in the YOI with an operational capacity of 186. All young people work towards English and Maths qualifications, as well as ICT, PSD, and vocational pathways which include construction, creative arts, healthy living, customer service, catering and horticulture. We also offer an Advice and Guidance service which helps our young people with post release opportunities.
The purpose of the role is to ensure that learners receive high quality and easy to understand information about learning and skills provision. This is a challenging but rewarding role and we need someone who is flexible and resilient, with the ability to encourage, engage and motivate, to help give children and young people a brighter future.
In order to do this successfully you`ll need to:
- Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 information, advice and guidance qualification within an agreed timescale
- Hold Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy
- Have relevant experience of conducting initial assessments and supporting the learning of individuals and groups
- Have experience of working with learners with a range of abilities and presenting challenging behaviour
- Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
- Gain / hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Current UK driving licence with access to own vehicle as travel to various sites is required
