A Nursery Administrator is required to support the Nursery Manager and Nursery operations. The Nursery is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to support the role of the Nursery Team Managers and Room Leaders. This position would be a level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration. Alternatively, for the correct candidate the apprentice could undertake the ILM level 4 management apprenticeship which would be discussed after successful interview.

The successful candidate will enjoy a varied role where no two days will be alike. We are seeking someone who shows initiative to support and develop efficient working practices and who can provide support for a range of projects for example improving nursery communications strategies through optimisation of new technology, managing staff rotas, developing publicity and maintaining high standards of provision.

A large part of the role is to work with parents over the phone and in person, so the successful candidate will need good customer service skills and be approachable.

The Nursery Administrator will also provide secretarial, administrative and organisational support to enable Nursery staff to manage their workloads efficiently. To be successful in this post the postholder will need to have or develop excellent organisational, IT and personal skills. He or she will be able to communicate very effectively both verbally and in writing and be willing to work flexibly and show initiative.

The Apprenticeship scheme provides unqualified staff with the chance to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Apprentices in these roles work towards a Diploma in Business Administration, but an alternative subject could be considered. The apprenticeship will normally remain in force for at least 12 months or until the apprentice has completed the relevant qualification(s), whichever is longer. Training, assessment, induction and ‘on-the-job training’ will be provided by Worthing College and team members, as relevant.

The role involves working closely with the Nursery Managers and Room Leaders and other staff. He or she will be responsible for the administration of nursery meetings and take responsibility for the management of some nursery events as well as making a contribution to other meetings and events as required. Furthermore there is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake project work in other departments of the College to support periods of high demand within the College.
