We currently have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Skills Trainer Assessor in the College’s Employer Services & Apprenticeships Academy. In this role you will be responsible for managing a caseload of Engineering Apprentices with a focus on assessing workplace competence and tracking of apprentices overall progress. Your role will be critical as you will be responsible for tying together all elements of their Apprenticeship ensuring that they are able to achieve timely success.

The working hours will usually be 8.30 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Thursday and 8.30 am to 4.30 pm on Friday. However, the working hours will vary on occasions dependent on the needs of the employers, apprentices, and the College. This position will be based at our Peterborough Park Crescent site but your role will take you to sites across the Peterborough areas and neighbouring counties.

*The successful candidate will have a good level of education to a minimum of Level 3 in the relevant vocational subject along with adequate relevant industry experience as an Engineer. There is a market allowance of £3,400 per annum will be payable in addition for holding a Level 3 qualification in Engineering. Ideally you will be a fully qualified Assessor but this is not essential as the College may support you in achieving this as part of your professional development.

If this is the right role for you then you will be highly motivated, a self-starter and a strong team player with the ability to prioritise and co-ordinate workloads effectively. You will need to have the highest levels of commitment to the apprentices, be dedicated to facilitating their achievement, able to engage and motivate apprentices and have a passion for sharing your own industry knowledge, skills and experience. Exceptional communication skills are essential, both verbal and written along with excellent interpersonal skills to allow you to form effective relationships with your colleagues, the apprentices and their employers. You will need to have a flexible approach to your workload ensuring that apprentices and employers are prioritised at all times. Proficient in the use of ICT systems is crucial to enable you to manage the caseload using an Electronic Portfolio System.
