Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

Due to the ever growing demand for creative and digital technical skills, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and experienced individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Creative & Digital Industries (CDI) Department within Kirklees College.

Experience of teaching Web/Mobile Application Development, Software Development, Games Programming and/or substantial industrial experience would be an advantage, the College is willing to support applicants with relevant technical skills combined with excellent interpersonal skills who wish to become teachers, raising the aspirations and ambitions of our learners. The ability to communicate effectively with staff and students at all levels is essential.

The department offer includes higher education, apprenticeships, as well as 16-18 provision which forms the core of our work. Courses are delivered at both centres, and are well resourced. Dewsbury has a brand new build with an excellent infrastructure which opens to learners in September 2018.

The overall purpose of this post is to make a significant contribution to the effective delivery and development of the Computing & ICT Curriculum within the Creative & Digital Industries, in line with the College’s Quality Improvement and Growth Strategy and to ensure a high quality and relevant learning experience for all students on the course/s.

The post holder will also be responsible for co-ordinating the course/s, monitoring and supporting students and ensuring that quality improvement strategies are implemented and complied with, along with ensuring the course/s meet the needs of students/employers and local community groups.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C), a BA/BSc (Hons) Degree or above in related subject area (or equivalent) and a Level 5 teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve one within an agreed timescale.

*There is an opportunity of obtaining a scarce skills allowance. This means that the salary for this position can be up to £36,025 depending on current salary, industrial skills, and specialist skills.
