The new innovative Health and Social Care Career Academy, which is a partnership between Blackpool Council, the NHS and Blackpool & the Fylde College.

The Health and Social Trainer will be delivering courses to train local people, providing a “home grown” strategy to meet the key needs of the local health and social care economy. Providing programmes from short professional development courses and career taster sessions through to higher qualifications developing career pipelines for people who want to progress in their career.

The role of the trainer will support resilience, professional development and progression pathways. Training to shape the future workforce and to develop partnerships with local organisations so that people have the confidence to seek employment. The trainer will also be delivering sector based work academies to support people to gain employment within health and social care, developing key partnerships with the NHS and social care providers.

The health and social care system is part of every community. The Fylde coast has a growing population with greater health and care needs, a growing and increasingly diverse workforce with changing work patterns and rapid technological and digital developments.

The training delivered will meet the needs of health and social care sector and will secure the supply of staff that the health and care system need to deliver high quality care in the future. This will involve a holistic approach recognising that people have a range of diverse needs.

The trainer will provide personalised and intensive support to build confidence and motivation, to prepare people for working in the sector, provide courses for professional staff and support career progression pathways. It is an exciting opportunity to deliver this agenda and to make a positive difference to support future health and social care across the Fylde Coast.
