What is this role and where does it fit in?

The University of Sussex ISC is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Subject Leader in Mechanical Engineering. The main purpose of the role is to develop modules for newly validated foundation, international year one and pre-masters courses due to start in September. You will manage the delivery of a range of modules within engineering, provide support and guidance to the team of academic tutors delivering these modules, including line managing a number of academic tutors. The role also includes teaching responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in maximising students’ learning and achievement and ensuring a positive student experience. They will be expected to make a significant contribution to academic and quality assurance processes. 

What experience do you need?

  • Candidates should hold a degree and a Masters or doctorate in mechanical or automotive engineering or related discipline.
  • A teaching qualification or willingness to complete the PGCert would be advantageous to this role.
  • A student-centred approach, good interpersonal, IT, and organisational skills are essential.
  • Experience of teaching students within an international context is highly desirable.

This role is based at the University of Sussex International Study Centre. The campus offers a unique combination of tranquillity and energy. The centre is surrounded by a beautiful national park, yet at the same time we are a short train or bus journey from Brighton. Brighton has fantastic transport links, so you'll easily be able to explore the rest of the UK and Europe.
