This position will be based at our Peterborough Park Crescent site.

Peterborough Regional College is a large, successful college of further and higher education with a busy apprenticeship provision that supports skills development in the workplace across a number of sector areas.

We currently have a permanent, part-time (VHL) opportunity for a Skills Trainer Assessor in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. In this role you will act as the main point of contact for the apprentices and employers providing guidance, support and technical knowledge to develop the apprentices and ensure successful achievement. Your main remit will be to assess occupational competence against the relevant work-based engineering qualifications and pathways.

This is variable hours post, and the hours will vary dependent on the needs of the Employers and their apprentices and you will therefore need to have a flexible approach with regards to when these hours are worked. The current caseload indicates that the hours are equivalent to circa 0.2 FTE but growth of the provision could see this position upgraded to a fractional post.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education to a minimum of level 2 in English and Maths, along with a vocationally relevant Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification at a minimum of level 3 coupled with recent and relevant industry experience. Ideally you will also hold an assessing and or IQA qualification but this is not essential as the College will support you in achieving this as part of your professional development.

You will be a motivated, self-starter with the highest level of commitment to securing timely apprenticeship achievement. You need to be confident in working autonomously and working away from the College site whilst maintaining a professional approach at all times. You will be a strong collaborator with exceptional communication skills (both verbally and written) as you will work closely with curriculum leads, tutors and employers.

The College offers many good employment benefits including 30 days holiday entitlement plus Christmas close down (or additional payment for hourly employees), access to the Local Government Pension scheme, and many on-site benefits and facilities, including a gym and on-site nursery.
