The Sheffield College is recruiting a permanent Deputy CEO to lead the strategic and operational control of the College’s curriculum, including its future development. By doing so the post-holder will be a leader in  the next phase of the College's development and will enable the College to enhance its impact on learners, communities, employers and the city of Sheffield, and the wider City Region.

The £50 million general further education college provides full-time and part-time academic, vocational and professional courses to around 16,000 young people and adults every year, and has a £300m+ annual economic impact on Sheffield. The College offers a broad range of qualifications including apprenticeships, vocational diplomas, A Levels, access courses, and foundation and honours degrees, and has four main campuses across the city, all of which are modern and well-equipped.

Our overall effectiveness was judged by Ofsted to be “Requires Improvement” in January 2018. We are determined to be judged at least “Good” by Ofsted by the time of our next inspection, building on our current strengths, which include:

  • Strong partnerships with employers.
  • Good provision for learners with high needs.
  • Good provision for a fast-growing cohort of apprentices.
  • A curriculum that meets local needs.
  • Good progression of our students and apprentices onto further and higher education and employment.
  • A senior team and Governing Body with a strong understanding of what now needs to be done.

We are now seeking to make an appointment to the challenging and fulfilling permanent role of Deputy CEO, Curriculum, Quality and Assessment. We are looking for an individual with the inspiration, wisdom and strategic insight to take the college forward over the coming years. Reporting to the Governing Body, and supported by a largely new, very capable and enthusiastic Executive Team, the Deputy CEO will be responsible for the College’s overall academic, financial, operational and strategic performance, for guiding the College’s strategic direction, and for further developing our links with our local, regional and national partners and stakeholders.

Closing Date: 24 June 2018.
