The Science Team consists of eight teaching staff, a curriculum assistant and three excellent full time specialist science technicians. Courses include A Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Electronics and Physics along with Applied Science vocational courses at Levels 2 and 3. The Biology team forms part of the Worthing College STEM Academy in which teachers and technicians of STEM courses work collaboratively to enrich the student experience and progression opportunities as well as contributing to the local agenda to increase uptake and progression to STEM apprenticeships and higher education.
Biology students are encouraged to engage in a wealth of opportunities outside the curriculum such as Crest Awards, Olympiads, engineering competitions, mentoring in schools as well as acting as science ambassadors at bespoke college events such as the Big Bang at Worthing College and the annual STEMfest that we hold in conjunction with Chichester University.
Due to a vacancy that has arisen we are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic Biology teacher, with a proven track record of successful teaching, to join our Science Team and STEM Academy from September 2018. The teaching would be spread across Biology A Level and our vocational Applied Science courses at Levels 2 and 3.
*The Subject Leader (Deputy Curriculum Manager) responsibility may be available to the right candidate. They will be expected to support the Director of STEM in line management responsibilities and in a range of quality improvement activities to enable the Director of STEM to have an improved focus on the developing STEM provision and the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and student outcomes.
