A suitably qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated Health and Social Care Lecturer - (0.7) is required to teach and assess across a range of BTEC qualifications at levels 1 to 3. You should be a flexible and dynamic team player, who is able to take responsibility for providing a dedicated group of students with pastoral support. Recent industrial experience and the ability to deliver early years qualifications will be an advantage.

Main Duties:

  1. To effectively undertake a teaching timetable as outlined by the Curriculum Manager/Assistant Principal.
  2. To act as a programme/course/subject leader and take responsibility for the performance of students in a given area as well as undertaking the necessary administrative duties required.
  3. To support the ongoing development of the curriculum, new courses and the use of information and learning technologies.
  4. To participate fully in the review and evaluation (self assessment) of teaching and learning in a specified curriculum area.

Specific Duties:

  1. To prepare and deliver learning and mark where required, associated examination papers and other assessment materials.
  2. To act as course tutor with responsibility for the pastoral care and academic progress of students.
  3. To undertake internal verification/moderation/standardisation.
  4. To assist with liaison work with local companies and schools.
  5. To visit students on work experience if appropriate.
  6. To assist in the recruitment of students.
  7. To assist with the marketing of courses.
  8. To arrange and/or attend course meetings.
  9. To undertake appropriate staff development activities in line with college and Institute for Learning policies and procedures.
  10. To assist in the administration of the Centre, specifically in the interviewing and enrolling of students, reporting to parents and employers, checking of exam papers, reporting on results and the progress of students.

A teaching qualification would be an advantage or a commitment to undertake this within the first year of employment is essential.
