Principal & Chief Executive

The Board of Directors of Newbattle Abbey College is seeking an outstanding individual to become the new Principal and Chief Executive.  The current post holder is retiring, and this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the college, and build on the successful work of the existing Principal.  

We are Scotland’s national adult education residential college, unique in our approach and offering extensive support to adults returning to education and to younger learners in transition.  The college also operates a commercial business as a heritage venue for conferences, meetings and international summer schools, as well as managing Newbattle Abbey Business Park which is home to 38 SMEs.

The Board is looking for an inspirational leader, with the academic knowledge and ability to build relationships and represent the college at an international, national and local level.   We have significant ambitions for the future, and the new Principal will have the strategic vision and leadership skills to take the college forward to the next stage of its development.

As a small national specialist college, the Principal needs to have a flexible and hands on approach to the role.  An aptitude for business is essential, with an ability to develop opportunities for income generation.
