The School of Childcare and Education Professions is the largest department at University Campus Barnsley and we are growing our provision further. With 75% of our recent graduates achieving a First or Upper Second Class degree, we are looking to build on our success and seeking to appoint a HE Lecturer who can help us to deliver a high quality higher education experience for our students.
HE Lecturer (Childhood & Education Professions) – Research Methods
18.5 hours per week
This post is initially a 12 month fixed-term basis, 18.5 hours per week. We require a HE Lecturer with proven experience of successfully providing undergraduate research supervision and a high level of understanding in qualitative and quantitative research methods, preferably in relation to the education or childhood/early years disciplines.
Your main teaching responsibilities will be on the BA (Hons) Early Years and the BA (Top-Up) Professional Practice (Education Studies/Supporting Children and Families) degrees, with particular emphasis on teaching at level 6 (final year students). You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a Master’s Degree (in a related subject). You are required to have experience of teaching in higher education, which will have included developing teaching resources, teaching in large and small groups, tutorial work and assessment of/feedback for student assignments.
Candidate Requirements
The essential requirements for selection are listed below:
- A good first degree, as well as a Master’s degree, preferably in a related subject
- Proven knowledge and/or experience of working in Education/ Early Years or closely related sector.
- Relevant teaching experience in UK higher education with experience of a range of teaching methods.
- PGCHE and/or HEA fellowship or a demonstrable commitment to attain these qualifications.
