Director of Curriculum (14 - 16 College)

With an annual turnover of £20 million, Hugh Baird College is a large, dynamic Further Education College, in Merseyside, delivering 300 courses to more than 7000 students from entry level to full degrees. The College is a friendly, diverse and vibrant place to work where our students and their success is at the heart of everything we do. 

The college is growing and changing with the opportunities and challenges of the Further Education sector and has innovative and forward-looking staff with an impressive team ethos that ensures student success is paramount.  As Director of Curriculum you will have overall responsibility for the provision within the 14 – 16 College. You will be accountable for the development of high quality curriculum pathways that not only meet the needs and interests of learners but also enable stretching target grades to be achieved consistently across all programmes, including those that may be delivered by staff outside of the 14 to 16 College.

As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will ensure close liaison and co-operation with other Directors, Assistant Principals and the Principalship Team to deliver the College’s strategic plan and key objectives. 

We are seeking to appoint an individual with a track record of successful management and delivery within Secondary or Further Education and proven experience of driving organisational change resulting in demonstrable improvements. You will also be able to demonstrate success in meeting high activity targets within budget, through effective financial control.

Educated to degree level together with a Certificate in Education you will also be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the challenges presently facing the educational sector, and a thorough knowledge of quality assurance processes and procedures.  The ability to inspire others through a clear vision which engages staff and drives forward continual improvement combined with the skills to manage and motivate staff to achieve the highest level of quality and performance is essential.
