JOB OVERVIEW

Here at Study Group, our students always come first. That’s why we understand the importance of giving our Lecturers the autonomy they need to provide a student centred, innovative and creative learning experience. Teaching across our unique Chemistry modules, you will have the chance to provide engaging lessons to smalls classes (average 10-15) of International students, proving them with the subject knowledge and Academic practice they need to succeed in UK Higher Education. This is a flexible hourly paid contract, with currently around 5-6 hours teaching on offer per week.  70% is classroom based, and around 30% lab.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a centre that is currently going through exciting growth, opening lots of opportunity for development. There is a skilled Science team already in place, that are collaboratively and passion about student support. It’s a dynamic working environment so there will be the need to be adaptable and work under pressure. That said, there is very little admin, giving you time to focus on the classroom and the development of the students.

Our Leeds International Study Centre is a fantastic place of education offering a number of different programmes to international students. Based in Headingly Stadium, the centre offers a pleasant working environment, with newly refurbished facilities. There is a café on site and free parking for staff. This is a growing, forward thinking centre that offers lots of opportunity to someone that wants to progress.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Delivering modules (through teaching) to international students studying on programmes offered by the Centre and assisting with the development of modules.
  • Preparing module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students, including re-sit examinations.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of the Centre’s virtual learning environment (VLE). Facilitating student access to same.
  • Providing input for related modules to the annual review and reporting process.
  • Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performance.
  • Providing, when/if required, academic learning support to a small number of students.

EXPERIENCE

  • You will be a student centred Chemistry Lecturer, with experience in teaching Chemistry at Level 3 or above, in a Further Education or Higher Education setting.
  • Experience teaching at Undergrad level would be highly advantageous.
  • You’ll require a Master Qualification in Chemistry, or a relevant subject area.
  • Experience teaching small classes or seminars would be highly desirable.
  • You’ll be able to show examples of lesson content that you have designed, developed, and delivered.
